Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery (BNM)
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery (BNM) program is a four-year fulltime program comprising eight semesters, which prepares a student to become a registered nurse qualified to practice in a variety of settings in either government or private healthcare settings. The program prepares nurses for specialist nursing practice. Knowledge acquisition related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management and care of the dying is core to nursing practice. Mastery of competencies is the main focus. Students are provided with opportunities to learn a whole range of nursing skills in addition to acquiring knowledge related to nursing practice. This is achieved through learning in skill lab/simulated labs and clinical environment. Successful completion of this programme will enable students to obtain specialist nursing license from Maldives Nursing and Midwifery (MNMC).

Entry Requirements:
• Pass with minimum “C” grade in GCE „O‟ level Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics/Chemistry or equivalent AND Pass with a minimum “E” grade in GCE A‟ level in any of the following two subjects (Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry) or equivalent (National board exam) AND Certified competency in English, OR • Pass in Sahadhaisaanavi Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics/Chemistry AND Certified competency in English, OR • Successful completion of Diploma in Nursing AND certified competency in English, OR • Successful completion of Diploma in Health-related field specified below: Public health/ Primary Health Care/Pharmacy/Diploma in medical laboratory technology AND certified competency in English. *** Certified competency in English Minimum “C” grade in GCE O’ level English OR equivalent (Approved by the MNMC) *** Students with a Diploma in Nursing can complete the programme in 2 years
