Diploma in Nursing

Diploma in Nursing (DNU) programme is designed to create an independent, self-directed, accountable professional who practices nursing with a health promotion perspective and an ethic of caring. At the end of the programme, the student nurse will have knowledge and skills to make practical judgements based on critical thinking, intuition, research and evaluation in a variety of contexts with a diverse client population. He or she will be prepared to meet the professional practice requirements as outlined by the Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council (MNMC).

Entry Requirements:

  • Pass with minimum “C” grade in GCE „O‟ level Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics/Chemistry or equivalent AND Pass with a minimum “E” grade in GCE A‟ level in any of the following two subjects (Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics, Chemistry) or equivalent (National board exam) AND Certified competency in English, OR
  • Pass in Sahadhaisaanavi Mathematics, Biology/Human Biology, Physics/Chemistry AND Certified competency in English, OR
  • Successful completion of Diploma in Nursing AND certified competency in English, OR
  • Successful completion of Diploma in Health-related field specified below: Public health/ Primary Health Care/Pharmacy/Diploma in medical laboratory technology AND certified competency in English.

Minimum “C” grade in GCE O’ level English OR equivalent (Approved by the MNMC)
